Welcome to the website of the Official Receiver's Office. The Official Receiver's Office was established on 1 June 1992 and performs various statutory functions relating to insolvency in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China, including the role of liquidator and trustee of last resort in the administration of both corporate and personal insolvency cases respectively. We aim to provide an insolvency service of high quality, to support the Hong Kong SAR as a major International Financial Centre. We support the Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau in keeping our insolvency legislation both current and relevant, and endeavour to provide an efficient insolvency service to the public in an open and accountable manner.

To grow an economy there must be an effective, fit for purpose insolvency process – particularly if we want to encourage an innovative and start up culture - a process that can ensure value is retained – but can also quickly and efficiently deal with enterprise that has failed. A system that investigates fault, but allows for rehabilitation and provides a fresh start. A strong, healthy insolvency system, both personal and corporate is essential to keep Hong Kong to the forefront as an International Financial Centre.
